How to Enter

We are delighted that you have decided to enter our UK Photo Competition. Before you proceed can you please take a minute to read through the Terms and Conditions below. Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions and to agree to be bound by them when entering this competition. When you’ve read and agree to the terms and conditions, submit your photo using one of these two methods: Email to astrid@imagineireland.com or Burn a Disc and post to Imagine UK Cottages, Photographic Competition, Embsay Mills, Embsay, Skipton, BD23 6QF.

In your picture properties / description please note:

• the category you would like to enter; Family Holiday; Holiday Property; Still Picture; Action Picture; Scenic Picture
• a short caption/title for your photo that details the subject of the photo.
• the location in the UK where the photograph was taken
• a maximum 200 words description why you think this photo captures the true holiday spirit
• tag the picture with “Imagine UK Cottages”

Email

Submitting your photo by email is easy. To submit by email, send an email to astrid@imagineireland.com with the subject Imagine UK Cottages Photo Competition. Please note the following in your email

• your full name
• the category you would like to enter; Family Holiday; Holiday Property; Still Picture; Action Picture; Scenic Picture
• a short caption/title for your photo that details the subject of the photo.
• the location in the UK where the photograph was taken
• a maximum 200 words description why you think this photo captures the true holiday spirit

You can either attach your photo to your email or send us a link to where you have published the picture.

Requirements

Please keep the following requirements in mind:

• Please ensure all photos taken are of the UK
• Photos need to be supplied in either jpeg or tiff format.
• Photos should not extend the maximum file size of 5 Mb.
• Minimum size: 1600 x 1200 pixel dimensions @ 72dpi or the equivalent 12cm wide @ 300dpi
• Please refrain from resizing or manipulating keeping the EXIF data in tact.
• If supplying by email take care when attaching files as many email applications provide you with the option to resize.
• Choose the largest resolution possible or choose not to resize the image

Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction
The Imagine UK Cottages Photo Competition has a number of Terms and Conditions for entry. These are important to ensure that the photo you submit is both eligible to win and meets important legal and fair criteria.Note that any deviation from these Terms and Conditions may regretfully render your submission to the competition void. The start date of the competition is December 21st 2009 and the closing date of the competition is December 20th 2010.

2. Submission and Acceptance

• Please ensure all photos taken are of the UK
• All entries for the months prize need to be entered before the 21st of each Month after which the monthly winners will be selected and published.
• No entries will be accepted after 1st December 2010.
• To enter the competition, no purchase with Imagine UK Cottages is necessary.
• All entrants must declare that the photographs are their own work and free of any copyright other than their own personal copyright. In submitting to the competition, you agree to grant Imagine UK Cottages a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the submitted material in any way that we want. You still own the copyright to everything you contribute.
• You may submit to multiple categories but only one particular photo per category
• Imagine UK Cottages has provided two methods for submitting your photograph to the competition.
• These are Email or Post.
• Imagine UK Cottages cannot guarantee that all pictures submitted through these methods will be accepted into the competition.
• The caption and descriptive text should be written in English.
• Pictures will not be accepted into the competition if they are deemed inappropriate. This includes images that may be offensive, previously published, copyrighted (by somebody other than the entrant) or otherwise contrary to the spirit of the competition or any of the specific rules noted for each competition category. Photos may also not be accepted into the competition if the focus of the photo is an identifiable individual who has not given their consent to appear or if photos feature advertising or trademarks which would otherwise require Imagine UK Cottages to obtain permission to use or would contravene rules which may govern publications.
• If your photos are deemed inappropriate, they will not be considered by the Photo Competition judges and / or will be removed from the accepted pool of photos . We cannot guarantee a personal response or dialogue for the reasons behind the removal.
• Should a photo be identified as inappropriate whilst it has been accepted into the competition, Imagine UK Cottages reserves the right to remove it from the competition, disqualifying the owner (an example of this scenario is if an image is accepted, but later identified as a copyrighted image from a film or magazine where the entrant was not the photographer or the copyright holder).

3. Eligibility to Enter

• The competition is not open to Photo Competition judges.
• The competition is not open to freelance, agency or professional photographers who have historically supplied - or are in the process of supplying –Imagine UK Cottages with photography as a professional service.

4. Competition Prizes, Judging & Prize Draw

• A ‘Pick of the month ’ photo will be selected every quarter as a winner of a prize.
• The Jury will select a winner by looking at the following criteria:
1. Expression of the holiday feeling (image and text)
2. Originality
3. Technique
• The winner will be chosen by a judge selected by Imagine UK Cottages comprised of Imagine UK Cottages employees and external professionals.
• The prize every month will be an Imagine UK Cottages Voucher to the value of £100 off your next holiday with Imagine UK Cottages for each category and each ‘Pick of the Month’ photo will automatically be included in the category’s Grand Prize final.
• The final Grand Prize winners of the competition will be announced during December 2010. A pool of finalist photographs will be selected from all submissions by the Primary Judging Panel. These will include all previous ‘Pick of the Quarter’ winners as well as a selection of the other submissions. From this pool, the Final Judging Panel will select a winner for each competition category which will be awarded the grand prize for the category.
• The jury’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• The Grand Prize will consist of a £300 Imagine UK Cottages discount voucher to be used for a minimum 7 day stay in an Imagine UK Cottages property. This holiday needs to be taken before December 2011 and is only applicable to UK, Ireland and France.
• The prize is not transferable.
• No cash alternative, charity donation or substitution prize will be offered.
• Imagine UK Cottages reserves the right to change the prizes at any time.
• In the event of unforeseen circumstances Imagine UK Cottages reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
• Winners will be notified by email and the winners are required to contact Imagine UK Cottages to confirm acceptance of their prize within 14 days of notification. In the event of non-acceptance within the specified period, or if the person is not contactable, Imagine UK Cottages reserves the right to reallocate the prize awarded to the next best entry or to forfeit the prize. No responsibility is taken for failed delivery of the prizes.

5. Copyright, Licence and Your Work

• In submitting to the competition, you agree to grant Imagine UK Cottages a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the submitted material in any way that we want. You still own the copyright to everything you contribute.
• If your image is accepted, we will publish your name alongside it wherever used as part of the Imagine UK Cottages Competition. Note that this accreditation will not be possible with use of your photo in printed publications, general Imagine UK Cottages website use or incorporation on any other media outside the context of the Imagine UK Cottages Photo Competition.

6. People in your photographs

• If you take pictures of other people, you are responsible for gaining their consent for Imagine UK Cottages to use their image free of copyright, fee or any other usage restriction. If you happen to take pictures of people aged under 18 as part of your entry, you must get consent from the subject’s parents before submitting your photo.

7. Standard terms and conditions

• Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these rules and disclaimer and to agree to be bound by them when entering this competition.
• No responsibility can be accepted for emails and accompanying photographs which are lost, delayed, misdirected or corrupted during delivery to or from Imagine UK Cottages due to any computer malfunction, virus, bug, delay or other reason whatsoever.
• Imagine UK Cottages reserves the right to alter these competition rules at any time.
• Imagine UK Cottages reserves the right to withdraw or amend this competition at any time without notice.
• These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
